Donald K. Ranvaud
Of Italian-British descent, Donald Ranvaud will be remembered for his passion in the production of the seventh art at a global level but with a special interest and affection for Latin America.
Ranvaud was a producer of films nominated to the Oscars; Farewell my concubine (1993), Central Station (1998), City of God (2002) and The Constant Gardener (2005).
Sudourni’s Butterflies (Darío Nardí, 2012) and The 4th Company (Mitzi Vanessa Arreola, Amir Galván Cervera, 2016) were presented at FICG.
In recent times, Donald Ranvaud was the creative director of the initiative “Connect4Climate”, a global community that with support of the World Bank and the Italian Ministry for the Environment is in charge of promoting actions against climate change. It was precisely his labor in “Connect4Climate” that established a close bond with the International Film Festival of Guadalajara, though the section “Film4Climate”.
Thanks to Donald Ranvaud the feature film Landfill Harmonic was programmed in this edition of FICGinLA.
His great sense of solidarity took him to travel to Montreal to present the screening of My Hindu Friend, as homage to Héctor Babenco who had recently passed away. Donald was hyperactive as well as hyper tense. His heart could no longer resist and he left us in his hotel room, fulfilling his duties as a jury member.
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye do Donald and we could do no less than dedicate this edition of FICGinLA to honor his memory.
