Welcome to the 2014 FICG in LA!

The 2013 FICG in LA was a resound success: 2000 attendees, 25 special guests and honorees, and more than three dozens media outlets from the U.S. and Mexico covering the event, and giving us a fantastic springboard to plan the 2014 edition.

We are proud to announce the 4th edition of FICG in LA, which will take place Sept. 4 to 7. FICG in LA will, once again, present the best of Mexican and Ibero-American films, followed by Q&A sessions with filmmakers and talent, red carpet events, galas and the Tree of Life (Arbol de la vida) awards ceremony. The Tree of Life award conveys special recognition to key Latino and Latin American personalities for their contribution to the art of cinema and the promotion of Latino and Latin American culture.

Following its mission of being a window to Latino and Ibero-American talent, and a door to all that the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) has to offer, FICG in LA has expanded to a four day showcase in order to include its new industry initiatives: the first annual Guadalajara Construye in Los Angeles and DocuLab Los Angeles,

We live in a fast changing cultural and social environment where origins or language no longer define who we are, what we want, or where we will create and tell stories.

Wanting to contribute to the completion of Latino and Ibero-American films, Guadalajara Construye in Los Angeles and DocuLab Los Angeles are open to filmmakers seeking post-production funds. Narrative and documentary projects made by either Latino or Ibero-American directors living in North America (USA or Canada), or by American and Canadian directors who have a film with Latino or Latin American content, will be chosen to screen for jury members, sponsors and film industry professionals. Guadalajara Construye in Los Angeles 1 and DocuLab.1 Los Angeles will take place on September 4 and 5, 2014.

In addition, the winning projects in each competition will automatically qualify to be considered for Guadalajara Construye 9 or DocuLab.7 Guadalajara, or for the Ibero-American Competitions of the next edition of the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG30) – March 6 - 15, 2015.

Lastly, to reaffirm the social mission of FICG and the University of Guadalajara Foundation in USA, FICG in LA will donate again all of its proceeds to a charitable cause. Last year proved to be a success when we contributed to the Mexican Red Cross to aid flood victims. We will announce soon the recipient of this year’s fundraising effort.

This is just a little taste of what 2014 FICG in LA will bring. We are working hard to make this year’s edition bigger, better, and tastier.

Make a date with FICG in LA and be part of the celebration.
See you in September!
